Why is my vape e-juice harsh
You fill up with your new vape juice and take a long drag. You’ve been waiting all day for this, but something isn’t right. It’s scratchy and tastes harsh on your throat. It might even make you cough, give you the hiccups, or have a burning feeling. Your friends e-juices aren’t like this and you can’t help wondering, why is my vape e-juice harsh? Is it the device, or the juice, what can I do to stop my e-juice from tasting harsh?
There are a number of reasons why your e-juice might taste harsh on your throat. Here they are, and what you can do to rectify it.
Nicotine levels are too high
If you are new to vaping then you might want to consider the fact that your nicotine levels might be a little high. When you start out vaping opt for a 3mg juice, or even a 0mg, just to get used to the technique. Then you can order one more suitable, or stay as you are. In high PG ejuices you will be able to get up to 18mg, however, it is best to start low and see how it feels for you.
If you were a heavy smoker and enjoy high nicotine, but not the harsh throat hit, then you might opt for nic salts. Nic salts are smoother on the throat while still high in nicotine. You will be best using a nic salts ejuice in a pod device, such as the SMOK Nord.
If you are sub ohm vaping then you need to remember that 6mg is the highest you should go. Go any higher than this and you’ll get quite a different taste!
Your coil needs changing
A burnt coil ruins the flavour of your juice and could be the reason why your vape juice tastes harsh. Check the coil is it good condition before you pour in your new juice. You might even want to give it a clean along with your tank. Find out how to clean your coil to give it a new least of life.
You need to steep your e-juice
Steeping your juice will help to release and intensify the flavour. You can steep your juice just by leaving it in a warm spot, such as in the glove compartment in your car, or just next to the fan on your laptop or games console.
You’re not using a quality vape juice
Everything might be perfect- new coil, the right nicotine concentration, low wattage and you even steeped the e-juice, yet is still tastes harsh. This might be down to the juice itself. Always buy your vape products from trusted websites and stores. This way you can be sure that they are FDA approved and have been made in a location with high standards.
The wattage is too high
If you have a device with variable wattage and other fancy buttons then you might want to have a look at the wattage as having it too high can make your e-juice taste harsh. Start off low and work your way up to a higher one as you become a more experienced vaper.
