Mesh tanks have been a significant creation in the world of vaping. Mesh tanks are vaping tanks that use a coil with a mesh texture to heat the device. You’ll find mesh tanks to be super popular with cloud chasers as they can withstand higher wattages and kick out some incredible cloud, not to mention consistent flavour.

Some people also ask:
What is a mesh tank?
A mesh tank is a vape tank that uses mesh coils to heat the device. The metal mesh is often made from Kanthal or Nichrome. The idea behind the mesh coil is to increase the surface area of the metal that contacts the wicking material (often cotton). This increased surface area boosts cloud production, enhances flavour and makes for a smoother vape. The mesh tank is hugely popular with sub-ohm vapers.
What is a mesh coil?
Coils use different materials and designs. You’ll find that the designs and materials all impact the vape and give you something slightly different. That might be a more discrete vape, a richer flavour, or the ability to do some serious tricks.
A mesh coil uses a flat strip of metal with honeycomb-shaped holes punched in it. This has a large surface area, ramps up faster, offers increased flavour and gives you a more consistent vape.
Mesh coils vs standard coils – what’s the difference?
Mesh coils and standard coils work by heating up liquid so you can vape. However, their design means that the effects are slightly different. You might also choose one or the other depending on your vaping style and device.
Mesh coils are mostly the choice for sub ohm vapers as they are cloudier and work best in these types of tanks. Standard coils are great for your 1.0 resistance that works in MTL devices and pods.
Standard coils are often smaller than mesh ones, this makes them ideal for your little pod kits and discrete devices. They don’t last quite as long as mesh coils, however, the lower-powered devices that you use them in will mean that they don’t burn out too fast.
Mesh coils have a larger surface area to heat the liquid. This means that the coil makes full contact with the cotton wick to give you a consistent vape in terms of flavour and cloud. You’ll also have less chance of the dreaded dry hit and a cooler vape. Added bonuses – they last a little longer than standard coils and have a faster ramp up time.
How do mesh tanks work
The mesh metal on a mesh tank acts as the heating element to warm the e-liquid so you can vape it.
What are mesh tanks good for?
Mesh tanks are great for cloud, flavour and a consistent vape. If you are sick of getting an awesome flavour and cloud followed by another puff that tastes off and has a little cloud, then you might want to make the switch to a mesh tank.
What is the best mesh tank vape?
What’s the best mesh tank vape is a difficult one to answer. We have some really great options from top brands including SMOK, Voopoo, Aspire, Freemax, Geekvape and more.
Here are a few to check out:
Odan Evo by Aspire is a sub ohm mesh tank with a 510 connection. It uses a 0.3 ohm or 0.18 ohm mesh coil for maximum flavour and a nice smooth vape.
Obelisk Tank by Geekvape is a mesh tank that uses 0.4 ohm and 0.2 ohm mesh coils. It’s a flavour powerhouse and connects to lots of devices thanks to the 510 connection.
OBS Engine S tank is perfect for cloud chasing and rich flavour. The tank uses E Mesh series of coils to give you fantastically rich flavour.
That’s just a tiny selection. Check out our full selection of mesh tanks.
How long do mesh tank coils last?
How long do mesh tank coils last is kind of like how long is a piece of string… it depends. It will vary depending on how much you vape, the power settings on your device and your vaping style.
That being said, mesh tank coils do last a little longer than standard coils.
What liquids for mesh tanks?
This really depends on how the coil is described. If it is a MTL coil with resistance above 1.0 ohm, then it is best for high PG. If it has a resistance of 1.6 ohm then it’s best paired with nic salts. Anything below 1.0 ohm and you will want to use high VG with your mesh tank.
