Is vaping healthier than cigarettes? July 09 2018, 0 Comments
We are often asked, "is vaping healthier than cigarettes?" by customers looking to quit smoking tobacco. In this blog we are going to share our thoughts about whether vaping is healthier than smoking.
Vaping involves the vaporising of e-liquid which contains VG (vegetable glycerin), PG ( Propylene glycol), flavourings and sometimes nicotine. Cigarettes contain 4000 different chemicals of which a number are known to cause cancer.
Due to there being no long term studies on vaping since it hasn’t been around long enough, we can’t say that vaping is healthier than cigarettes. Research to support that vaping is healthier than smoking cigarettes could take decades to come out.
Something to bear in mind is that when you smoke cigarettes you inhale carbon monoxide, a fume which old fashioned cars would have pumped out. Vaping doesn’t give off that nasty chemical.
There have been numerous health professionals and anti smoking charities who do believe vaping to be a good alternative to help you quit smoking. One of which is Deborah Arnott, from “Action on Smoking and Health”. She said in an interview:
"We do need better data on safety and appropriate regulation for e-cigarettes, although these products are certain to be significantly less hazardous than cigarettes, which lead to premature death in half all long-term users."
Vaping has been around for about 5 years now, and there have been no significant and balanced studies to say whether vaping is healthier than cigarettes.
Vaping does allow the used to gradually reduce nicotine intake while keeping up the act of smoking. Once the user has reduced down to a zero MG it will be easier for them to quit vaping and smoking all together.
