What is an e-cigarette?

Becky Spencer-Davies

what is an ecigarette In this blog we are going to answer the question what is an e-cigarette to help you decide whether vaping is right for you.

An e-cigarette, or otherwise known as a Shish Stick, Vape Pen, Digital Vapor Device or E-cig, is a battery powered device which simulates smoking. The e-liquid, or e-juice that is vaporised and inhaled can contain nicotine which helps people to quit tobacco and move to a version of smoking that is 95% safer.

Electronic cigarettes work by heating the e-juice to generate an aerosol, we call a vapor, which the user inhales.

The handheld device can come in all different shapes and sizes, depending on the users preferences and needs. You can find box style devices, or ones which are shaped like a pen. When you are looking at e-cigarettes and considering buying one, you might wonder what is the best one for you. The best thing to do is to go into a Vape and Juice store and try out the devices, see how they feel in your hand and your mouth.

E-cigarettes were first sold in 2004, and have since gained popularity and are now an everyday part of society. They started off as devices which were a similar shape and size to cigarettes, but as they have developed and more people have found out what an e-cigarette is, the industry has boomed, and as a result new devices have come to the market.

Using an electronic cigarette is often referred to as “vaping”, or “going for a vape”. E-juice in the device is made from nicotine, propylene glycol, glycerine, and flavorings, however it doesn’t have to contain nicotine, which makes for a good way to reduce nicotine intake and eventually remove any dependency on it.
