Vaping when you’re sick- should you do it?

Chances are, when you were a smoker, the thought of a cigarette when you have a cold, cough or sickness bug was probably out of the question. Smoking probably brought on, or worsened, some of your symptoms too, such as phlegm, coughing and even bronchitis. Smoking also kills off antibodies that are there to fight off your illness, keeping you sicker for longer.

Now you’re onto the vape, feeling a little unwell and are left wondering, should you vape when you are sick?

To be honest, it is up to you. Just like it was with smoking. If vaping is making your throat more sore, you feel sick, giving you dizzy spells or worsening any of your current symptoms then it is probably best not to vape when you are sick. Listen to your body, if it’s saying no then pop the vape away until you’re feeling better again.

Now, quick disclaimer, we are not doctors over here at Vape and Juice, we are simply vapers who love to vape, talk about vape, sell vape, try vape, build…. You get the idea. We’re not here to say you 100% should or shouldn’t vape when you’re sick, we’re just here to offer a little advice.

So, if you do decide that you feel okay to vape then consider the following:

  1. Drink more water

Vaping can dehydrate you, so make sure you have a bottle of water on hand at all times.

  1. Keep the vape away

Try to vape less than you do at the moment if you can, just until you feel better again. Chances are, if you have a cold you probably won't be able to even taste the delicious flavour you have in your tank. Save it for when you’re better.

  1. Try menthol

Menthol has that refreshing taste, a little like a vicks inhaler! This might be a little easier on the throat and airways.

  1. Stop if it’s making you feel worse

Number one rule though is to stop vaping when you are sick if it makes you feel more ill. Save your eliquid and your coil for when you’re back up and running.

Do you vape when you are sick? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
