Yes that's right, the title says it all, Eleaf have their 30W iStick box mods in the UK now, with the capacity to handle a sub ohm tank. The powerful 20W Eleaf sadly missed a trick by not envisioning the rush to the market of the sub ohm tanks that Aspire and Kanger had been working on; so the upgrade to the 30W, means you can vape on.
While the 20W is a fantastic device with a normal atomiser, such as the Aspire Nautilus or K1 Glassomiser range; for those that want the sub ohm offering that the Atlantis and Kanger Subtank can work to, the new Eleaf no longer cuts out at 1ohm.
The new box mod from Eleaf comes with 5 specific new features on top of the 20W version.
- Increased voltage range from 2V to 8V
- Wattage from 5W to 30W
- Spring connector in the 510 thread to ensure wider adaptability and durability with an assortment of tanks.
- Up and Down arrow lock. Holding them down simultaneously while the device is in operation, locks them to avoid unintentional adjustments.
- Wider atomiser base at the top. This wider plinth on top means, Atlantis, Nautilus Maxi, Subtanks etc fit neatly without overhanging the mod's edge. Ever seen a maxi nautilus on a 20W Eleaf? You'll know what we mean.
In terms of whether these devices are better or worse than the IPV or Sigelei, they essentially focus on a different spectrum of the market. The IPVs etc really come into their own with drippers and rebuildables, where the high wattage range allows super sub ohm vaping to kick in, the Eleaf 30W suits the wider market who are just looking to pop a sub ohm tank on with no fuss. An IPV can be unscrewed and the battery changed, while the Eleaf is a closed system. But with the long battery life in the Eleaf and after hundreds of recharges before you need to panic; you'll likely have moved on to an integrated phone/vaping device by that point. Apple iStick perhaps?
